In the past, only VIP guests could visit the bell tower as Venice’s Lords were wary about granting permission to foreigners to enter in case they used it as an opportunity to survey the city’s layout and ports for military purposes. Then back down from the tower you’ll admire the Basilica di San Marco, the most famous church in Venice. Finally, enjoy a cup of fine Italian coffee at a café in the square while listening to classical music. Day 2: Venice has a maze of back alleys so today you will be totally on your own to just wander freely and lose yourself on the island of Venice and do not forget to enjoy a gelato in the side streets of Venice. Day 3: Today starts early with a walk towards Ponte di Rialto for a gondola ride at the Rialto Bridge. The Rialto Bridge is the oldest of the four bridges that span the Grand Canal. The bridge has a covered section for shops and the T Fondaco dei Tedeschi by DFS mall is not far which is perfect for luxury shopping and an amazing photo op on the rooftop. There are markets with access to either side of the bridge for some souvenirs shopping. Next, we will head south towards San Pantalon, a Catholic church with an unassuming facade, and a ceiling featuring an impressive painting of 40 different canvases that cover more than 400 square meters. The painting presents the Martyrdom and the Glory of Saint Pantaleone and dates back to the 17th century. Finally, end the day with an authentic Italian dinner. Day 4: Venice is a city of waterways and 118 islands, and no visit to Venice is complete without a trip where we leave the mainland. Today is a day trip to Burano and Murano by vaporettos.
