Steps To Escape Disaster While on Travel | Hawaii Devastating Wildfires
Hawaii is experiencing some destructive wildfires on West Maui. Unfortunately, lives were lost, and others were forced to evacuate. What ignited the fires is not certain; however, the news is reporting the residents were made aware in advance by the National Weather Service that they were in a red flag situation.
Hey, yaâll, hey, itâs Toni Reid, and this is Toniâs Travel Talk (triple TTT), where I share travel news. For more travel hacks and reviews, check out my other videos, subscribe, and come back often. Iâve traveled to 46 countries and six continents and am a former travel advisor, so thereâs that. So, let's get into it.
In todayâs TTT, I want to send prayers and Godspeed recovery to all affected by this horrible disaster. I also want to share resources like the American Red Cross and others linked in the description below, a list published by Today on how you can help. Finally, I want to highlight two of the seven steps for preparing for disaster and steps on how to respond to a natural tragedy if youâre on travel. To learn about the other five steps, check out my blog, âEscaping Disaster While on Travel.â
Stay Informed: Before traveling to any destination, monitor local news, government websites, and travel advisories to help you make informed decisions and be prepared. So check out government sites like National Weather Service and Emergency Alerts
Emergency Preparedness: In addition to familiarizing yourself with emergency procedures, Carry essential items such as a first aid kit, water, non-perishable food, and necessary medications. For my travel, I always have an emergency Everyday Carry pouch, also known as EDC, and if you want to know whatâs in it depends on the destination and if Iâm traveling solo or not. But check out my blog âHow To Be Prepared For Those Unexpected Travel Emergencies | The EDC Traveler Editionâ for details.
Thatâs it for this Toniâ Travel Talk and Happy travels.
