The Best Travel Movies

Updated: Jun 23, 2023

Have you ever been inspired to travel to a destination just because you saw it in a movie? The best movies are the ones that push you off the sofa to buy an airline ticket right away to start your adventure. It happens to me all the time! Here, I'm sharing some of my favorite movies that kept me entertained during the shut-in during the 2020 pandemic. So if you're looking for some great travel films to add to your bucket list, I hope these films motivate you to explore the world.

Viking Destiny (2018)

A young princess was forced to leave her home and raised by her uncle. She travels the world to places like London,Yorkshire, England, and Northern Ireland where she builds her army. Viking Destiny features a strong female character.

Rebecca (2020)

Set in Cornwall, England, and a movie about Mrs. De Winter, stalked by her husband's ex-wife Rebecca, ghost. The housekeeper Mrs. Danvers was obsessed with reminding Mrs. De Winter that Rebecca was better than her, all of which made Mrs. De Winter full of anxiety. The movie starts off in the glamorous Monte Carlo, Monaco, where the scene reminds you of the set of Julia Roberts in the film Pretty Woman. The drama takes place at the Cranborne Manor - Manderley, 23 miles from London in Hertfordshire. Rebecca was full of psychological horror, romance, and coastal scenes.

Under The Tuscan Sun (2003)

Under The Tuscan Sun a romantic comedy-drama film that definitely inspired me to want to buy an old house in the countryside of Tuscany, Italy. I'd live there a part of the year and relish among the rolling hills, cypress trees with visits to Tuscany's islands like Elba with its turquoise water.

Eat Pray Love (2010)

One of my absolute favorite travel movies is Eat Pray Love, a memoir film about self-discovery and traveling around the world. What makes it one of the best movies of all time are the adventures and locations like the Italian cuisine in Italy, praying in India, and finding peace in Indonesia. This movie has inspired me to construct my own journey, "Beauty, Culture, and Adventure."

The Last King of Scotland 92006), The Legend of Tarzan (2016), Rogue (2020)

Almost any movie about Africa tickles my pickle, and fortunately, I was able to visit North Africa in 2019. It was the most exhilarating traveling experience in all my travels thus far. Egypt is one of the world's oldest countries, full of historical sites like the pyramids and The Valley of Kings in Luxor. Egypt has a rich and diverse culture with unique traditions, fashions, foods, and even accents across different cities.
